1、问询信(Query Letters)
有些SCI期刊往往要求作者在投稿前提供问询信，主要内容是从投稿信中抽取论文的意义、贡献、期刊适合度评价，加上关于审稿周期和发表费用等问询事宜。注意，发送问询信时不要夹带投稿信或论文稿件。
在写作上应该文字简洁、表达准确，一封恰当的问询信可以吸引编辑对论文的选题产生兴趣。包括的要点有：1)准确地称呼收信人(编辑)，最好是能详细到编辑的个人姓名(这样显得很诚恳和礼貌);2)简要说明将要投稿论文的主题;3)描述自己所了解的投稿期刊的论文主题范围;4)明确表达自己的论文和期刊办刊主旨很契合;5)询问编辑是否允许投稿。

2、投稿信(Cover letter)
投稿信是指在初次提交论文稿件时，需要随论文一并发送给期刊编辑的一封信。投稿信是向期刊编辑宣传投稿论文的唯一途径，也是编辑在收到稿件后看到的第一份文档。注意，投稿信的遣词造句要有礼貌，信息要言简意赅。
撰写投稿信需要包括以下几个要点：1)尽量使用单位的信头，增强专业性和信任度。注意礼貌的称呼;2)注明论文稿件的完整的基本信息，包括论文标题、投稿类型、总字数、插图数、表格数、通讯作者联系信息。须注明投稿期刊的全名，并使用英文斜体;3)介绍论文的目标、意义、贡献、影响、创新点;4)根据期刊的具体宗旨和范围评价论文的期刊适合度;5)声明论文具有原创性，没有一稿多投，而且不包含已发表过的内容;6)声明所有作者已经阅读论文稿件并同意投稿到该期刊。

3、催稿信(Reminder letter)
一般来说，SCI论文投稿的审稿周期为1-3个月，部分杂志的审稿周期较长。如果作者在论文投稿后，稿件长期是” With editor”或” Under review”的状态，那么不妨给编辑发一份态度诚恳的催稿信，委婉地说明你着急等待的理由。注意写清稿件号、投稿时间、文章标题、催稿理由等。
催稿信模板：
Dear Editor,
I am very sorry to disturb you. I am a Ph.D candidate of …, and I will be graduated in May,2012. However, I am worrying about that because I need another accepted or published paper so that I can get the qualification to be graduated. My manuscript(Manuscript Number,MN:…) is still "under review". Could you please improve the review process for me?By the way, I noticed that there are existing "an editorial restructuring" in this journal. 4、修改稿回信(Response letter)
修改稿回信是作者根据投稿论文审稿意见，修改好论文后给编辑以及审稿人回信，它实际上是由给编辑的信和回答审稿人意见两部分组成。修改稿回信要做到有理、有利、有节。
包括以下几部分内容：1)全面回复编辑和审稿人的所有意见，在每一点意见后面都提供清楚详细的回复;2)将审稿意见与回复内容区别开来。可以将审稿意见加粗，与回复内容做区别;3)将审稿意见分类;4)与审稿意见出现分歧时，回答要清晰且有依据，态度端正，不要表现出负面情绪;5)对论文中任何增加、删除和修改都要单独说明。

5、修改建议信(Suggested Modifications letter)
在出版制作阶段，编辑会通知作者按照某些要求对格式或语言问题进行修改，编辑会和作者沟通论文出版的事宜，确定排版和清样等，如果发现有问题(拼写错误、对语言使用不满意、新增文献等)，一定要及时修改。
修改建议信模板：
Dear Dr. John,
Thank you for sending me a preprint of the co-authored paper which has been made much more refined by you and my colleagues in the lab.Upon receipt of the paper, however, I found out a serious mistake in the footnote for my permanent address, in which”...Wuhan, Hunan, ... “should read"...Wuhan, Hubei, ...”, a mistake which you have repeated in your previous letters to me. I suppose that you must have known the seriousness of the above mistake, therefore I earnestly hope that a correction to the error should be forwarded to the Physical Review in the soonest possible way so as not to make the error finally published.
